Here we are on our way to the hospital early in the morning on December 29th for our induction. Originally, we were scheduled for a December 30th induction, but things were progressing a little more quickly at my last doctor's appointment & our OB thought we should just move things up. This photo makes me laugh because even though I was actually measuring pretty small with this pregnancy, I look HUGE all bundled up here. Our favorite ice cream place has a flavor appropriately named Spouse Like A House & I feel like I could be their poster child here. Note to self: Animal prints are not slimming.
Once things got going, Macy Kate came pretty fast, as expected. She was a little battered, but came out healthy at 1:19pm and even a little bigger than we originally thought. She weighed in at 6 pounds 12 ounces and was 20 inches long (1/2 an inch taller than Mia, but almost a pound lighter).
Nick brought Mia back to the hospital to meet her new sister later in the afternoon. She was mesmerized & wanted to see her and touch every inch of her. She pointed out all of her body parts multiple times for us.
Mia also got a present from Baby Macy when she came to the hospital... a little pink digital camera so she could take pictures of her new baby sister.
Macy did a great job in her first few hours of life & tried to recover from the trauma of being born with a lot of sleep.
The next day, Grandma Sue & Grandpa Wally came to visit us at the hospital and meet their newest granddaughter. They were kind enough to come and help out with Mia and the housekeeping the first few days of Macy's life. It was so helpful to have them & we loved being able to share Macy with them so soon after her birth!
Needless to say, we are all in love with the newest addition to our family. We can't believe we are suddenly a family of four!
Time to take little Macy home from the hospital (and say goodbye to the nursery option).
Welcome to our family, Macy Kate!
We are trying to get this video to work of Mia holding Macy for the first time, but we are having trouble uploading it from our new Flipvideo camera. Stay tuned. It's cute.
