The Blizzard of 2010 struck DC with a vengeance, leaving 2-3 feet of snow in its wake. In anticipation of the storm, Mia and I braved the crowds at the grocery store the day before. There were zero carts, elbows being thrown in the meat & dairy sections, and lines that spanned the length of the aisles, but we somehow survived and came out with pretty much everything we needed.
The first day or two of the snow wasn't so bad. We had Nick working from home on Friday and the volume of snow was awe-inspiring and really pretty. We went out to explore a little bit the next day. Saturday evening, we even ventured across the parking lot to our neighbor's house for a little social interaction. 4 hours and an epic game of Monopoly later, we stumbled back through the waist-high snow with our sleepy child that we had just woken up from a deep slumber in a Pack 'n Play. First I fell down, and then Nick stumbled in the same spot, but somehow kept Mia out of the snow. We felt like awesome parents... But it was nice to get out of the house for a while.
Here are Nick & Mia during our afternoon exploration. The mounds of snow in the background are cars. It took all day the next day for everyone to dig out. We met several nice neighbors we didn't even know we had though! Nothing like a natural disaster to bring everyone together.
This was a common scene throughout our neighborhood, some much worse than this. Luckily, this was not our car!
Oh my goodness! I keep hearing about all the snow from my mom and Mel, but my word...that's insane! I heard there is more coming....!
